Responsibilities or Duties in the BOD

·    My primary focus on the Board of Directors is to grow the membership of Region 4 and particularly with support staff of credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants. The IVAPM is helping facilitate these members to get more training and awareness in pain management issues and involved in patient advocacy.

Involvement with Pain Management

My personal interest in pain management started in the earlier days of general medicine where I thought we could do ‘something more’ for the routine spay and castration candidates.  As time progressed in referral and emergency opportunities, I realized pain control was far more integral in the welfare of the overall patient safety than originally was taught.  I am glad for the IVAPM and the channels in training and advancement it provides.
