Involvement with Pain Management

I have been in veterinary medicine for over 33 years. In that time, pain management has done a complete “about face”. I became intensely involved in analgesia work when I was at Virginia Commonwealth University in the Division of Animal Resources. I was a member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and advised researchers and their staff on anesthesia and analgesia for their experimental procedures. I am still a consultant for VCU writing Guidelines and SOPs for the animal research community.

In 2003 I began teaching at www.VetMedteam.com. I currently teach all their anesthesia and pain management courses. I love it! It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Since becoming the Executive Secretary of IVAPM, I am now a member of
the American Academy of Pain Management (Human) and the American Society of Pain Educators. This has taken my passion to a new level. I continue to grow daily and am thrilled about this.

Hobbies and other activities

Anything about the BEACH! I garden in my tropical yard in South Florida. I became a certified Florida Master Naturalist through the University of Florida in December 2007. I enjoy working out, needlework and doing anything I can for my husband and 3 grown sons.
